Day 3 of 90 · Start small

Shrink it to your worst-day size

“On my worst day I can still do two push-ups. So that's the habit. The rest is bonus.” — Kai

Ask yourself: what is the smallest version I could do on my most tired, busiest day? Rewrite your if-then sentence using that tiny version.

Why it works

Habit researchers Gardner, Lally and Wardle advise choosing a simple action you can do every day. In the study they describe, simple actions like drinking water became automatic more quickly than bigger routines like 50 sit-ups. Small and repeated beats big and skipped.
