Day 51 of 90 · Calm under pressure

Slow your breathing for 2 minutes

“In for five, out for five. Two minutes and my shoulders finally drop.” — Kai

Kai, Winter Arc Day 51

Today's action · 5 min

Sit comfortably and breathe in gently through your nose for a count of up to 5, then out through your mouth for up to 5. Keep going for 2 minutes, and build towards 5 minutes on calmer days.

Why it works

The NHS suggests a simple breathing exercise for stress: breathe deeply into your belly without forcing it, counting to 5 in and out, for at least 5 minutes, and practise it regularly. It's a calming technique, not a treatment; if you feel dizzy, stop and breathe normally.
