A slip is part of change

“I fell off for three days. Instead of beating myself up, I asked what tripped me, and restarted.” — Kai

Think of a recent slip. Write one kind sentence about it, one sentence on what caused it, and the smallest step to restart today. Then take that step.

Why it works

Breines and Chen found that people who responded to a failure with self-compassion were more motivated to improve, for example studying longer for a retest, than those who focused on boosting their self-esteem. Kindness after a slip makes getting back up more likely, not less.
