Write three lines: what you've built, what got easier, and what you're proud of. Then ask yourself: does my habit feel more automatic than it did on Day 1?

Why it works

Gardner, Lally and Wardle describe habit strength rising quickly at first, then levelling off, and note that people are reassured to learn it gets progressively easier. You don't need to stay highly motivated forever, only until the habit can carry itself.
