Winter colds: the basics

“Soap, warm water, twenty seconds. And when I do catch a cold, I rest instead of pushing on.” — Kai

Kai, Winter Arc Day 47

Today's action · 5 min

Today, wash your hands with soap and warm water when you get home and before eating, and keep tissues handy. If you're already ill, give yourself a lighter day of rest and fluids.

Why it works

The NHS says colds spread through coughs and sneezes and from hands and surfaces, so washing hands often and binning tissues quickly lowers the risk. Most colds can be managed at home with rest and fluids. See the NHS page for when to contact a GP; this isn't medical advice.
